What if I have Long-Term Care Insurance?

Long-term Care Insurance is a wonderful way to offset the costs of getting In-Home Senior Care Services. For those that have such a policy, Granny NANNIES happily accepts them.

Do you work with all the major Long-term Care Insurance companies?

Yes. Our agency is credentialed by and works with all the major long-term care insurance vendors (e.g., Penn Treaty, Banker’s Life, CNA, Genworth, John Hancock, New York Life, Mass Mutual, etc.).

Will you verify my Long-Term Care Insurance benefits for me?

Yes. For those customers who have Long-Term Care Insurance policies and are unsure about their policy benefits, limits, elimination periods, etc. We would be happy to do a No-Cost Benefits Verification for you. You’ll need to sign an insurance company specific HIPPA release authorizing the inquiry, and it typically takes 5-7 business days to get a response from the insurance company.

Will you file my Long-Term care Insurance Claims?

Yes. We offer two options. You can either pay for the services yourself and we will file for reimbursement on your behalf at no charge. Or, our Medical Billing Partner can take Assignment of Benefits (AOB) with the Long-Term Care Insurance company, and you will incur no “out of pocket” expenses whatsoever provided your requested volume of services falls within your policy limits. There are some additional fees for “assigning your benefit” to offset the additional administrative overhead related to taking AOB. Please call our office for more details regarding our Long-Term Care Insurance AOB policies and associated pricing.

What if I need more care than my Long-Term Care Policy provides?

This is a common question. Many of these policies were written decades ago and the costs for these services have gone up substantially since then, leaving a gap between what the insurance company will cover and the actual cost of Home Care Services in today’s market. If you did not “assign your benefits” to our Medical Billing Partner as described above, then you would simply pay for the services as you go, we’ll file the claims on your behalf, and you will be reimbursed by your insurance company up to your Policy Limits. However, if you decided to “assign” your Long-Term Care benefits to our Medical Billing Partner, then you would simply do a Balance Billing Agreement with them. To summarize, you would be billed directly for everything above and beyond what your Long-Term Care Insurance policy allows.

My Long-Term Care Policy has an “Elimination period”. What is that and how does it work?

Essentially, you can think of an Elimination Period as a deductible. The insurance company typically writes in a clause that states you must pay for the services yourself for so many days, hours, or dollars depending on how it was written, prior to the policy activating and the Insurance Company taking over the cost of care.

How long does it take to get started with a Long-Term Care Insurance policy?

It really depends on your preferred arrangement. If you are not “assigning your benefits” to our Medical Billing Partner, as mentioned previously, we can typically get started in 3 business days or even sooner. If you prefer to “assign your benefit” to our Medical Billing Partner, it typically takes 5-7 business days to start while we wait on a response from the insurance company with regards to the Benefits Verification.

Do you still have questions about Long-Term Care Insurance?

We know that these policies are complicated and can be very confusing. If you would like more clarification on your policy and how you can use it towards paying for Granny NANNIES Home Care Services, give us a call and we would be happy to discuss further.
